The vault
The dome was built between 1491 and 1493; now it's decorated whit a golden frame over the matroneum. The decoration of the dome has changed in time: it was originally frescoed by Giovanni Della Chiesa. In 1616 it was painted and gilded in Baroque style. In nineteenth century it was decided to eliminate baroque superstructures and repainting the sides of the dome. New decoration was assigned at the painter Enrico Scuri who painted, in 1840, in the eight sides of the dome: the Gloria dei sette Santi lodigiani and, near the main altar, l'Incoronazione della Vergine.
